In the last week of January ’25 about 2500 students from all over the globe gathered in the World Forum The Hague for the The Hague International Model United Nations (THIMUN) Foundation conference. Main theme of the week was #AI. I4ADA was invited to moderate and present the panel discussion on the main stage covering the use of AI from a startup (with Carla Canino), Global enterprise (with Daniela Martea) and the NGO perspective. Discussed were both the positive side AI can bring as well as the concerns AI brings. The questions from the students included deep fakes, accountability and energy consumption. The discussion showed that in a lot of cases the answers are not as straightforward as you might expect. Hopefully, the students left with enough food for thought.

What technologies with either local, regional or even global reach are relevant to build, achieve and sustain digital sovereignty? What geopolitical threats need to be taken seriously? Are these challenges too big for one country, and if so, how to collaborate? How to speed up and keep up with ever-increasing and accelerating technological developments including essentials such as cybersecurity and trust? Is speed actually a friend or a foe? Which trustworthy and accountable 21st century digital, collaborative and organizational capabilities can support addressing challenges in this Digital Age? These and other essential queries are explored in this Dialogue. with Paul Timmers, Oxford University.
