What brings AI to the 5 P’s of the UN: people, planet, prosperity, peace and partnership? Why will UN set up a separate agency to address AI? Is AI a risk, an opportunity, or both? How to improve the level of understanding of AI by people, policy makers and others? How to improve the level of understanding of people and policy makers by the AI industry? How to improve the ability for recourse and remedies against poorly designed, poorly deployed or poorly used AI? How to make that pro-active and predictive, and not merely retrospective and forensic? What’s the low hanging fruit to address these challenges? And, who should be at the table?

Neil Sahota is an advisor to the UN on AI.
